Job Summary Manages the planning and implementation of the logistics functions which include overseeing the daily operations of a private fleet. Manages personnel working with vendors, customers, and carriers to resolve or coordinate solutions with escalations.Ensures successful implementation and adherence of compliance with all applicable regulations (DOT, etcetera) providing drivers and logistics team with a safe and engaged workplace.

- Plans, prepares, and forecasts annual budget. Accountable for financial results, meeting or exceeding annual budget based on a range of specific measurable indicators.
- Plans, manages, controls and forecasts monthly departmental expenditures against the budget; ensures department adheres to proper invoicing procedures with financial software requirements.
- Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; activities include weekly one on one meetings, mid-year and annual reviews.
- Monitors, analyzes fleet KPIs to meet or exceed service performance measurements. Takes corrective action where KPI’s are not meeting expectations.
- Partners with all internal/external stakeholders, builds relationships to support supply chain end to end objectives. Builds relationship with store operational leaders to provide superior service; responds to feedback to create solutions to unique market requirements.
- Work as one team with vendors to plan and forecast short term and long term equipment and driver staffing requirements.
- Manages accident processing, claims, investigation, and corporate reporting.
- Leads a team to accomplish cost, service and safety goals; assigns, monitors and reviews progress and accuracy of work, direct efforts and provide technical guidance on more complex issues.
- Ensures the department adheres to established policies and procedures; develops, recommends and implements Best Practices.
- Oversees daily load planning, and scheduling of routes to ensure balance of distribution center workload while providing outstanding Store Service within budget.
- Drives opportunities to grow backhaul program, analyzes changes in current and future backhaul lanes; collaborates with corporate optimization team and vendor partners to identify new backhaul opportunities.
- Responsible for user level maintenance of systems that support transportation and logistics activities including warehouse management software, transportation management software, On Board Tractor computer and supporting software and dispatch software.
- Outlines specific objectives and processes that are focused on generating innovative solutions to critical business problems. Develops and submits ideas which support the achievement of innovative goals.
- Manages and works on issues of a diverse scope, where analysis of the situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends. Provides advanced expertise and knowledge in complex area of specialization.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years OR High School/GED and at least 5 years of experience in a supply chain or business role.
- Experience negotiating with outside vendors, including negotiating contracts, prices, resolving service issues and reconciling differences.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with internal/external customers, such as vendors, drivers, etc.
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
- Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community & with vendors.
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
- At least 1 years of experience of direct leadership and/or cross functional team leadership.
- Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA/Master's Degree
- CTP Certification - Certified in Transportation and/or Logistics
- Experience with Logistics, Private Fleet in a multi-stop environment including forecasting business model using product volume & cost, forecasting Equipment & Staffing.
- Knowledge of DOT Regulations and DEP Compliance.
- Experience with on-board computers – PeopleNet, Warehouse management systems – AS/400, BOLT Dispatch software.
- Experience with Transportation Management Software – TMS, JDA.
- Experience creating and managing P & L Statements.
- Internal or External Lean Six Sigma Training.
- Experience with Risk Management.
