Job Description

Our client, Inc. , is adding a  Trust Officer or Senior Trust Officer to its team in Albuquerque or Santa Fe. It is one of the premier Trust Administration and Management firms in the Mountain West, and continues to grow!

With the support of an Ops team and Trust Associates, the Trust Officer provides trust account administration and management for various personal and family trust accounts. As the Corporate Trustee, the objective is to free up the families from the burden and conflicts that arise in managing a family estate and financial matters.

This is an excellent position for:
  • A current Trust Officer who is seeking a senior role with the opportunity to manage a portfolio of complex trusts.
  • A Trust Officer who does not want to work for a bank or financial institution that requires you to cross-sell in-house advising or proprietary bank investments or mutual funds.
  • A Trust Attorney or Paralegal who has gained experience in trust law and/or litigation, or estate planning and wants to transition their career to Trust Administration and Management.

Success Factors and Skills/Experience:

  • Working knowledge of fiduciary principles and trust administration practices.
  • Proven experience understanding the requirements of trusts, leveraging strategic partnerships, managing family questions and dynamics as well as external vendors and partners, and being guided by your ethics and values.
  • Completed the CFTA exam successfully, or can soon
  • High level of integrity, drive to fulfill fiduciary needs and requirements, and ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with internal and external partners.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, dependability, and a high level of motivation
  • Outstanding organizational skills, writing, and analytical skills with excellent follow-up, and the ability to set priorities, make independent decisions, and find sound solutions.
  • This position is in-office/on-site

Essential/Required Duties and Responsibilities:
Trust Services Include Management and Administration of various Trusts: Revocable and Irrevocable, Testamentary, Charitable, Directed, Special Needs, Court Settlement, Closely Held Businesses, Cemetery, and more.

  • Determine responsibilities, duties, and terms of the governing trust document and administer the trust accordingly
  • Initiate and monitor account activity ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, and applicable laws, rules and regulations
  • Monitor the accuracy of account transactions and information in the trust accounting system and work closely with the Operations Department to ensure accuracy
  • Arrange for the appraisal of real property, evaluation, transfer, and protection of trust assets
  • Interact professionally and with a high degree of follow-up with clients, beneficiaries, portfolio managers, attorneys, CPAs and other trust professionals regarding accounts
  • Initiate contacts to market trust services and achieve marketing targets
  • Actively manages account fiduciary risk by performing account reviews, operating in an unbiased manner within the trust provisions, and other fiduciary activities
  • Lead performance planning and reviews for assigned team members
