Description The Burns & McDonnell Denver, CO office is seeking to hire a Staff Mechanical Engineer for the Energy Global Practice!
The Staff Mechanical Engineer will work on project teams to create world-class designs for power generation projects at a variety of traditional or renewable power generation facilities. The Staff Mechanical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.
- Perform mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
- Modify and review production drawings for a variety of power projects.
- Design mechanical components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
- Write technical specifications for equipment and material procurement or installation during construction.
- Applies strong knowledge of commonly used mechanical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering services industry.
- Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers.
- Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of traditional or renewable power generation facilities.
- Communicates with other disciplines' (electrical, controls, structural, civil) engineers for efficient project coordination.
- Performs field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
- Field engineering support during construction and startup of power generation plants.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
- Or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience.
- 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
- Successful completion (i.e., passing) FE or EIT preferred.
- Travel:
- Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
- Strong computer skills including AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Navisworks, Smartplant, AFT Fathom, and AutoPipe preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
Compensation $105,000.00-145,000.00 Annually
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
