Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Bethesda, MD
Monday – Friday 8:30-5:30

Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join an accounting team in the Real Estate sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly close processes, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports related to real estate portfolios, development projects, and property management operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and month-end close processes
• Maintain and reconcile property-level financial statements
• Assist with cash management including bank reconciliations and monitoring of daily cash activity
• Support fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules for real estate assets
• Prepare and review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for real estate projects
• Prepare work papers and support schedules for audits and tax filings
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Communicate with property managers, development teams, and external vendors as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, or similar real estate systems)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
• Excellent Excel skills and attention to detail
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
