Role: Sr. Manager, Logistics

Reports to: Director of Logistics, Distribution, and Customs Compliance

Location: Carlsbad, CA (hybrid)

Role Overview:

The Sr. Manager, Logistics will oversee and manage end-to-end transportation and logistics (ocean, air, parcel, LTL, TL) including vendor management, customs relationship, contract terms, reporting, and KPI tracking under the direction of the Director of Logistics, Distribution, and Customs Compliance. This is a full-time, exempt position. Employees are required to work a hybrid schedule. (3) Days in office at our HQ in Carlsbad, and (2) Days Remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop transportation capacity strategies and contingency plans to meet service expectations with cost-effective solutions.
  • Oversee the management of air, ocean, ground & parcel contract negotiations.
  • Work with supply planning to meet on-time inbound Purchase Order delivery through best-in-class visibility software.
  • Oversees product movement and carrier sourcing, as well as developing the strategy for both domestic and international deliveries using multiple potential modes of transportation.
  • Has experience importing & exporting product, with knowledge of customs processes and documentation, and in working with brokers as needed.
  • Experience in dealing with duty/tariff classifications and the first sale rule would be beneficial
  • Develop procedures and systems to manage all logistics costs across the company. Drive costs reductions while balancing service levels.
  • Establish governance and auditing processes to monitor vendor performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Leverage industry best practices and market trends to evaluate current logistics practices and improve our current processes and strategy.
  • Monitor day to day service provider issues, cost analyses, ensuring the auditing & freight payment process is efficient, fix capacity and service concerns, maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, brokers, forwarders and carriers of all modes.
  • Develop and monitor a comprehensive suite of Service Level Agreements, Key Performance Indicators, scorecards, metrics, business rules, standard operating procedures, targets and objectives for all providers and carriers. Leverage these tools to take corrective action, drive process and cost improvement, maintain accountability for service standards, and provide visibility to stakeholders.
  • Build and cultivate cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders including Account Services, Operations, Sales, Finance, and Product Management.
  • Continuously assess and anticipate internal and external risks such as capacity constraints, service disruptions, regulatory changes, and port or carrier issues. Develop mitigation plans to ensure service continuity.
  • Lead and contribute to special projects as necessary in support of key business initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge:

  • Experience with selecting, negotiating, and executing partnerships with 3PL providers (ocean, air, parcel, LTL, TL), freight forwarders, origin management, and customs brokerage.
  • Knowledge of international parcel, ground, air, and ocean logistics operations.
  • Project management, negotiation, change management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience implementing high-value, highly strategic logistics operations and projects and building innovative solutions from the bottom-up.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate about complex issues with senior management.
  • Ability to make strategic recommendations based on data and best practices.
  • Apparel and/or footwear experience preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP, GTN, Shopify, PkMS, Domo preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, index/match, vlookup, data links, etc.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office.
  • Must be able to carry, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the associate is subject to an office environment and must adhere to the rules and safety regulations of the facility.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in transportation, logistics, or operations management

Pay Transparency:

REEF Lifestyle LLC complies with all applicable state and local laws regarding pay transparency. For positions located in California, the hourly range or salary for this role is $90 - $130k. Please note that final compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's qualifications and experience.
