Job Summary The Senior Staff Accountant (SSA) will provide financial support to the Firm’s Managing Partner, the Director of Administration and members of the Firms Management Committee. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices, as well as advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. The SSA role manages the Firm’s accounting systems and procedures, prepares financial reports and manages the month and year-end closing process. The SSA oversees the daily operations of various accounting functions, including financial analysis, budgeting, general ledger and payroll support. He/she will assist with audits and preparation of tax information. This position requires proficiency in using financial software and a solid understanding of budgeting and bank reconciliation processes. The SSA will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities - Perform bank reconciliations to verify the integrity of financial data.
- Prepare daily and weekly bank deposits
- Perform daily cash management activities
- Prepare and distribute daily management report.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare detailed financial reports for management review.
- Prepare monthly financial statements
- Assist in budgeting processes by providing relevant financial data and insights
- Maintain excellent financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions, including journal entries and ledger accounts.
- Analyze and reconcile financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
- Utilize financial software, e.g. QuickBooks for bookkeeping and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with other departments to support financial planning and decision-making.
- Generate financial reports and statements to support management in decision-making.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills to create, manage, and analyze financial data.
- Develop complex spreadsheets to track and report financial metrics.
- Other duties as assigned
Supporting Responsibilities - Payroll processing using ADP software
- Credit Statement Reconciliation
- Prepare year end 1099's
- Accounts receivable and payable, ensuring timely payment of invoices and vendor payments.
- Client Billing & Collections
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex financial data.
- Ability to communicate complex financial data clearly.
- Proficiency with accounting software including e.g. QuickBooks, Microsoft Office (specifically Excel), ADP and
Centerbase experience a plus
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong bookkeeping, journal entry and technical accounting skills.
- Ability to communicate complex financial data clearly.
- Exceptional verbal communications and writing skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Willing to assist staff members with various accounting needs.
- Strong customer service attitude.
