Job Title: Psychiatric Mental Health Therapy Aide

Location: Syracuse, NY

Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: Night (Mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts)

Pay Rate: $28/hr – $32/hr

Job Overview:
We are seeking dedicated Mental Health Therapy Aides for a Children/Adolescent Psychiatry Unit in Syracuse, NY. This role supports psychiatric patient care by providing both direct and indirect assistance under nursing supervision. Pediatric experience is preferred, and psychiatric care experience is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct care and supervision for pediatric psychiatric patients

• Record and monitor vital signs and intake/output

• Assist with physical exams, hygiene needs, specimen collection, and patient transport

• Support patients in their adjustment to the unit and daily routines

• Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and provide support during crisis situations

• Maintain a safe, structured environment and perform regular safety checks

• Use Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems to document patient care and observations

• Collaborate with the nursing team and other healthcare staff

• Participate in patient activities and overall unit management

Qualifications:

• CPR Certification (current)

• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric experience required; 2 years preferred

• Pediatric experience preferred

• Prior experience in an inpatient or acute care setting

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to deliver patient care with minimal supervision

• Proficient in using Electronic Medical Records
