Job Title: Property Accountant
Location : In office position - Charlotte HQ, Charlotte, NC

Position Overview:

As a Property Accountant, you will manage the full spectrum of accounting responsibilities for assigned properties. You’ll handle everything from bank accounts to monthly financial reports while serving as a key liaison between the accounting department and property teams, helping to resolve issues and provide support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Compile audit and tax schedules and manage external auditor and tax preparer interactions.
  • Calculate and process management fees.
  • Assist property managers with expense analysis, monthly accrual adjustments, and CAM reconciliations.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations and ensure accurate cash balances.
  • Manage weekly accounts payable check runs and resolve payment issues.
  • Oversee the monthly closing process and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ensure accurate recording of journal entries and provide supporting documentation.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and review owner distributions.
  • Prepare bank wires, transfers, and assist with cash flow forecasting.
  • Process lender reserve draws and support property budget preparation.
  • Maintain fixed asset depreciation schedules and manage GAAP adjustments, including straight-line rent.
Experience our ideal candidate has:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience required.
  • Prior experience in Property Accounting preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.
  • Experience with Yardi preferred.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, manage pressure, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills to meet deadlines and handle additional projects.
  • Regular use of phone and computer for communication with teams.
