Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.

Responsibilities:

• Provides patient care, including assisting with procedures and activities of daily living.
• Assists with physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies.
• Offers feedback to RN regarding patient care and reports changes in patient status.
• Performs UPMC nursing core nursing assistant responsibilities, including: Blood glucose monitoring, Weights measurement, Recording vital signs, Intake and output monitoring, Specimen collections, Foley care.
• Additionally performs at least four of the following tasks: Phlebotomy, 12 lead EKG, Simple dressing, Foley catheter removal, Point of care testing, Bladder scan, Straight catheterization, IV catheter removal
• Ensures equipment malfunctions are reported and communicates effectively with other departments.
• Establishes professional relationships and contributes to unit activities.
• Receives and acts upon feedback constructively, identifies learning needs, and seeks assistance as needed.
• Provides patient and family instruction and may apply, monitor, and remove restraints as per protocol.
• Demonstrates clear communication with the healthcare team and understanding of cultural diversity and safety protocols.
• Adheres strictly to policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Documents accurately in medical records and completes clerical tasks promptly.
• Maintains competency in advanced skills based on departmental needs, such as: Phlebotomy/venipuncture, Peripheral IV removal, Indwelling Foley catheter removal, Basic arrhythmia management, 12-lead EKG interpretation, NG tube management
• Performs according to system-wide competencies/behaviors and fulfills other assigned duties.
