Job Title: Financial Literacy Teacher - Summer Camp

Location: Ron Burton Training Viillage (Hubbardston, Mass.)

Job Type: Seasonal

Duration: Parts of weekends from June 28 through August 10, 2025, except July 4 th weekend

The NativityMiguel Coalition is collaborating with Fidelity, the Nativity Preparatory School of Boston , and the nonprofit Schooling for Hope to create a pilot financial literacy program for the Ron Burton Training Village middle and high school campers and their parents during the summer of 2025.  This will serve as a proof of concept for a larger financial literacy program for the middle schoolers, high school alums, and parents of the five Nativity Miguel Coalition schools of Massachusetts and the other 45 NMC schools across the U.S. and Canada.

About the Camp: The Ron Burton Training Village is dedicated to providing a fun, educational, and engaging environment for its campers (villagers) during the summer. Their programs are designed to inspire creativity, encourage teamwork, and promote lifelong learning. We are looking for a passionate, experienced and knowledgeable
Financial Literacy Teacher to work with a Financial Literacy Curriculum Synthesizer and a Project Coordinator from Schooling for Hope to help the villagers and their parents develop essential financial skills for success in high school, college, and beyond.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Curriculum Synthesizer and Schooling for Hope Project Coordinator: Teach age-appropriate personal finance lessons and activities that are engaging and interactive for campers and their parents.
  • Teach Personal Finance Concepts: Educate campers on key topics such as budgeting, saving, investing, credit management, and financial decision-making.
  • Facilitate Classes: Provide several sessions with middle school and high school young men, with middle school and high school young women, and with parents.
  • Monitor and Evaluate Progress: Assess campers' understanding and progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve financial literacy goals.
  • Promote a Positive Learning Environment: Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where campers feel comfortable asking questions and exploring financial topics.
  • Collaborate with Camp Staff: Work closely with other camp staff to integrate financial literacy education into the overall camp experience.
  • Communicate with Parents: Provide updates to parents on important information related to the financial literacy program.

The dates for this schedule are set, but there might be minor tweaks in the times.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, finance, or a related field. Teaching certification is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience teaching personal finance or related subjects to middle schoolers or high schoolers. Experience in a camp setting is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of financial literacy concepts and the ability to explain them in an accessible manner. Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion: A genuine passion for financial education and a desire to make a positive impact on young people's lives.

Compensation: $5,000; lodging and meals are available for each of the above weekends.  If the Financial Literacy Teacher does not take advantage of the offer of lodging, we will offer a travel stipend for the weekend(s) in question.
