If this sounds like a good fit to you, we are seeking applicants for a Family Services Worker - Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist (PSR) to join our Division of Child, Youth and Family Services at our Boise office.

This announcement may be used to fill full-time, part-time, and temporary positions. Temporary positions are limited to working 1,385 hours in a 12-month period for any one state agency. Employees are eligible for benefits if they work twenty (20) hours or more per week and the term of employment is expected to exceed five (5) continuous months.


This position may be eligible for limited telework after successful completion of probation and necessary training.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. In addition, successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Process and assess applications for families wanting to become licensed foster parents.
  • Conduct home visits to ensure home environment is compliant with licensing statues.
  • Support current and potential foster parents through answering questions regarding child welfare and licensing process.
  • Ensuring licensed foster parents have the resources needed to provide good care to foster youth.
  • Write succinct, timely new and re-license reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.   • Good knowledge of human services principles and practices including behavioral management methods, social and family systems, cognitive behavioral education and case management methods. Typically gained by a Certification as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist in accordance with USPRA requirements OR Bachelor's degree in social work, behavioral science, education, or healthcare from a nationally accredited university or college and included at least 21 semester credit hours in human services fields such as psychology, social work, special education, counseling, and psychosocial rehabilitation OR 2-4 upper division courses as stated above AND 2-4 years’ work experience OR experience that represents the knowledge level above.
  • Computer literacy for data entry, electronic mail, composing reports and letters, and storing and retrieving documents. Typically gained by a Bachelor's degree.
  • Valid driver's license.
