What To Expect
The New Programs Engineering team works at the front-end of vehicle design and development, working in an iterative environment to study, simulate, build, and prove Tesla’s future generation of vehicles. This position will interact with many cross-functional teams from the Design, Vehicle Engineering, and Powertrain Engineering teams in creating different prototypes for engineering development. This is an electronic design engineering position where product design expertise and a fundamental, first principles approach to problem solving are far more important than extensive project engineering or automotive industry specific experience. What You'll Do Ownership of harness designs for prototype and early phase vehicle programs, including electrical schematics, BOM, harness drawings and system diagrams. Taking design from concept through prototype vehicle buildDocument build/rework instructions for complex vehicle wire harnessesCollaborate with various engineering teams to integrate new electrical subsystems into prototype vehiclesSupport firmware and technician teams debugging and bringing up electrical systems in prototype vehiclesDesign PCB hardware to support integration of electrical subsystems
What You'll Bring Degree Electrical Engineering or equivalent experienceA minimum of 2 years of experience in a product development environmentExpertise in Automotive communication networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) Wire harness design and build experience including knowledge of appropriate tools, materials, and best practicesFundamental understanding of PCB design and experience with PCB design software and circuit simulation tools, including Altium and/or LTspiceKnowledge and experience in designing for environmental constraints (temperature, humidity, and vibration), regulatory compliance and product debug (EMC/EMI, ESD, transients, etc.)Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workloads, and meet tight delivery timelinesDetail-oriented personality with effective documentation and reportingExcellent communicator, resourceful, and mindful of time management

Expected Compensation
$84,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
