Position: Donor Relations Coordinator

Location: Bakersfield CA

Type: Direct Hire Fulltime

Salary: $78000 $98000 annually

SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Director of Development the Donor Relations Administrator will play a pivotal role in spearheading campaigns and building relationships to secure funding to support the organizations mission. The position will assist the development team in stewarding existing donors and cultivating new relationships through effective communication and engagement strategies. The position will be responsible for the lifecycle of fundraising initiatives from planning and execution of campaigns (including employee giving and virtual drives) to cultivating donor relationships. This includes securing sponsorships grant writing and managing donor data. Youll also play a key role in crafting communication materials and collaborating with the marketing team to ensure consistent messaging reaches donors and potential supporters.

The CAPK Foundation was founded in 2020 and serves as the philanthropic arm of Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK). The Foundation seeks to provide the necessary funding to empower lowincome individuals and families with the resources in times of uncertainty. By forging strategic partnerships we form a powerful force to improve our community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Essential Job Specific Duties:

  • Responsible for planning coordinating and executing fundraising campaigns including employee giving virtual food drives and other specific fundraising activities for the CAPK Foundation.
  • Meet with partners community members stakeholders and prospective donors to establish relationships and fundraising around giving and campaigns.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of all fundraising events with expertise in securing sponsorships auction items and inkind donations.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of grant proposals budgets and reports to funders.
  • Assists the Director of Development in regular reporting and analysis of gifts campaigns and annual fund performance.
  • Maintain donor records acknowledgement letters and all activity within the Customer Relationship Management database following organizational best practices.

  • Assists the Director of Development with recruiting managing and developing major to midsized gift and corporate donors.
  • Works closely with the Administrative Coordinator to establish and maintain individual points of contact related to fundraising events.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Grants team to develop and manage consistent communications to donors and prospects that align with individual giving strategies. Supports other development activities as needed.

  • Work alternative hours as required including nights and weekends.
  • Networkwide travel as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Knowledge of:

  • Agency and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Modern office practices methods procedures and equipment.
  • Graphic design and producing marketing materials and collateral including proficiency with CANVA and Acrobat for example.
  • Microsoft Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Word processing and basic office organizational and communications software.

Ability to:

  • Demonstrate excellent oral written organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Set priorities and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Articulate CAPK and the Foundations mission and to produce clear grammatically correct and persuasive correspondence program information publicity material and funding proposals.
  • Demonstrate time management and organizational skills; highly motivated with attention to detail and the ability to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Exhibit strong administrative skills with the ability to work with volunteers board members and CAPK leaders.
  • Effectively present program services information to the public partners and stakeholders.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The following requirements generally demonstrate possession of the minimum requisite knowledge and ability necessary to perform the duties of the position.

  • Bachelors Degree from a fouryear college or university desirable with a strong emphasis on professional writing skills.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience in nonprofit fundraising with a demonstrated success soliciting major gifts including the ability to plan organize and execute fundraising activities effectively as well as the ability to participate in highlevel corporate and foundation solicitations required.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be acceptable.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a valid California drivers license and state automobile insurance with an acceptable driving record substantiated by a DMV printout.
  • Successful completion of a live scan physical substance abuse screening and TB and all required vaccinations.
