Gage Hospitality Group is currently seeking a fun and passionate   Bar Manager   to join   The Gage   located on Michigan Avenue, steps from Millennium Park. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the restaurant's high productivity, quality, and customer service standards are maintained.

Bar Manager Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, and motivate a team of bartenders and bar staff to deliver exceptional service and product knowledge.
  • Ensure staff is knowledgeable about the drink menu, daily specials, and service standards.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to ensure high morale and strong team cohesion.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the bar, ensuring smooth service and guest satisfaction.
  • Create and maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, following all safety, sanitation, and health standards.
  • Manage the bar’s opening and closing procedures, including securing the premises and ensuring all equipment is properly stored.
  • Handle guest complaints or issues in a professional and prompt manner.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering supplies, tracking usage, and conducting regular inventory checks.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels for alcohol, mixers, garnishes, and bar equipment.
  • Ensure proper storage of alcoholic beverages and ingredients in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Work with vendors to negotiate pricing and manage cost control, reducing waste and maximizing profitability.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen and management teams to develop new drink offerings, seasonal specials, and signature cocktails.
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in the beverage industry and incorporate creative ideas into the drink menu.
  • Set pricing strategies that balance profitability with guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor beverage costs and ensure that bar profitability is maintained by controlling waste and tracking liquor costs.
  • Ensure that guests receive the highest level of service and satisfaction during their time at the bar.
  • Create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere by interacting with guests and building relationships.
  • Handle special requests and accommodate VIP guests or private events when applicable.
  • Assist in setting and achieving monthly revenue and budget goals for the bar.
  • Monitor daily sales, analyze trends, and make adjustments to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Prepare financial reports as requested by management.

  Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bar Manager, Assistant Bar Manager, or in a supervisory role within the food and beverage industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage, train, and motivate a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain calm under pressure.
  • Knowledge of local liquor laws and health regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  • BASSET
  • Food Handler
  • Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and bar management software.
  • Previous experience working in high-volume restaurants or bars.
